Pastoral Talk: Growth Mind-Set

20 December 2018

Ian Morris (Head of Wellbeing) will talk about what is probably the most influential pieces of education research ever. In the 1980s, Professor Carol Dweck started to conduct research into the effect of a person’s beliefs about their own intelligence on the progress that they made with learning.

Her research was ground-breaking and shows us that what we believe about our own intelligence and how we give praise to others has a significant impact on how well we learn. This talk will explain Dweck’s research and its impact for pupils, teachers and parents alike.
