The Wellington College Waterloo Half Marathon

02 April 2019

Please join the third form, OWs and energetic members of staff for the walk/run from Stratfield Saye to Wellington College.

This 13-mile route passes through spectacular countryside, and is by permission of His grace the Duke of Wellington. We start at the Duke’s seat, Stratfield Saye, and will walk or run from there through his private estate, before joining an ancient footpath, the ‘Devil’s Highway’. There will be prizes for the fastest parent/OW, but the less ambitious can stop at one of the three pubs/tearooms en route.

Do come and join us (and your children if you are a parent/relative/friend of a child in the third form, for whom the event is strongly recommended as it will give them an understanding of Wellington’s history, and links to Waterloo/the family of the First Duke). It is always a wonderful event.

Registration is at 12:15–12:45 in the Driver Lecture Room; we will leave Wellington after a brief chapel service. The walk/run will begin just after 14:00, with the first runners appearing at Great School at approximately 15:30, while walkers and tea shop enthusiasts will arrive between 17:30 and 19:00. It will be possible to take taxis back early in the route if 13 miles is too much; the Tally Ho pub in Eversley is approx. 7.5 miles from the start, and there will be a minibus taking parents and pupils back from the Tally Ho until 17:30.

Tickets cost £20.00 per head for parents and OWs.
