OW Football Club (OWFC)

About the Club

The OW Football Club brings together Old Wellingtonians who share a love of football, offering a great opportunity to stay active, reconnect with former schoolmates and meet fellow OWs. With around 40 members, the Club plays weekly matches on Saturday mornings at King’s House School Ground in Barnes, welcoming players of varying levels of commitment, from regular team members to those who play occasionally.

The Club is open to male OWs aged approximately 18–35 and is ideal for former school footballers looking to enjoy competitive but sociable football. An annual membership costs £20, with an additional £15 match fee. A highlight of the Club’s calendar is the opening fixture against the current Wellington 1st XI, which provides a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the College and kick off the new season.

Meet the Rep: Max Burke (Bl 18)

What is one of your favourite memories of playing football at Wellington?

Playing Bradfield in the ISFA Cup on Turf. We suffered a cruel extra-time defeat to the eventual winners, but it was one of the first football matches where the whole school came out to support us, at a time when football at Wellington was still developing into what it is today.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the OW Football Club?

The Club has given me the opportunity to reconnect with lots of people I knew at school. With a bar next to the rugby pitch at our ground, playing a match followed by a beer in the sunshine with old schoolmates is the perfect way to start the weekend.

Why would you encourage other OWs to get involved?

It’s a great way to keep playing football in a relaxed, sociable environment, whether you want to play every week or just occasionally. More than anything, it’s an opportunity to catch up with old friends and enjoy being part of the OW community.
