Connecting the Next Generation: Life Beyond Wellington Networking Evening 2026

10 September 2026

On Tuesday 8 September 2026, we welcomed parents and Old Wellingtonians to our first networking event of the 2026-27 academic year. The event brought together over 70 members of our community from a wide range of industries, including finance, politics and government, architecture, entrepreneurship, marketing, media and more.

Designed to support young OWs as they take their next steps beyond Wellington, the evening provided an opportunity to connect, share experiences and learn more about university pathways, internships, graduate opportunities and first jobs.

Reflecting on the event, Caroline Monaghan, Head of Life Beyond Wellington, said: “For those starting out, a single conversation can make a real difference. The generosity with which OWs and Parents shared their experiences and advice was what made this evening so valuable.”

The event offered the opportunity to hear from OWs at different stages of their careers – from those just a year or two ahead, to those with many years of experience – offering practical advice and insight into navigating the world of work and building a successful career.

A special thank you to our guest speakers, Mel Exon (current parent), Harry Oliphant (Bl 23) and Molly Jaques (Ap 19), for generously sharing their experiences and insights on graduate careers, career transitions and the importance of building a strong and fruitful network.

It was wonderful to see the Wellington Community come together to support the next generation of OWs, and we look forward our next networking events later this term – Property and The Future Economy.
