Ruth Strauss Foundation upcoming events in the Michaelmas Term!

05 July 2022

Early 2018, Ruth Strauss, wife of Sir Andrew Strauss the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers.  Ruth died on December 29th, 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

In Ruth’s memory, Sir Andrew has launched the Ruth Strauss Foundation (RSF) to:

Provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent

Raise awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers.

Two events are being held in the Michaelmas Term to help fundraise for this Foundation which may be of interest to you: a Golf Day and Long Room Dinner at Lord’s.

The Golf Day this year is on the 21st of October 2022. The event will be hosted at the Berkshire Golf Club, Ascot. The RSF are bringing together supporters and celebrities at the iconic golfing venue. The daylong event includes a round of 4-ball golf on the beautiful course, breakfast, post round drinks and lunch.

Entertainment is provided by star guests, as well as golf competitions, an auction and raffle all in aid of the Foundation.

The Long Room dinner is on the 10th of November and is being hosted in the famous Lord’s Long Room, RSF supporters gather for a fantastic and memorable evening, showcasing the foundation and the work that we do.
