Waterloo Society Event: Our Royal Visitor

26 May 2022

Known as the ‘Royal and Religious Foundation,’ Wellington College has had close links with the Royal family throughout its history, including five visits from HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Yesterday evening we celebrated Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee by looking back at these very special occasions. Our Archivist Caroline Jones and Chris Potter viewed fascinating archive film from 1959 and 1974 and chatted to Wellingtonians who met the Queen during her visits in 1959, 1974 and 2009.

We hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as we did, and we would like to take this opportunity to say a special thanks to Christopher Miers (Bd 1959), Hugh Armytage (Hn 1974), Neil Winship (Bl 1959), Edmund Hayward (A 1974), James Ellis (L 2011), Charlie Byrd (Bn 2010), Lillie Parker (Hn 2010), Georgie Singer (Ap 2010) and Patrick Ware (L 2010) for taking part in the inspiring session.

For those of you that missed the session the recording can be watched here: https://vimeo.com/714012675
