April OW Must Read!

11 April 2022

Our OWs are an incredibly talented group and there have been many brilliant books written by OWs over the years.  As we near Easter, we would like to draw your attention to this lovely book, Hearing God in Poetry, which takes a close look at fifty great poems all reflecting a sense of God’s presence.

Author Richard Harries (Hl 54) provides a short reflection to accompany each poet and poem, highlighting their spiritual insights and how they communicate God’s presence to the reader.  This is an ideal book for poetry lovers; its daily readings will introduce you to some wonderful poetry for Lent and Easter (or any other season) and give you a deeper understanding and appreciation of these wonderful works of literature.

Formerly Bishop of Oxford, Richard is now a Life Peer and remains active in the House of Lords on human rights issues, he is Emeritus Gresham Professor of Divinity and a Visiting Professor of Theology at King’s College, London and his voice is well known to many through his regular contributions to the Today programme.

Richard has written many critically acclaimed books, among them are Seeing God in Art (2020), Haunted by Christ (2018), The Beauty and the Horror (2016), The Re-enchantment of Morality (2008) and Art and the Beauty of God (1993)
