St JOHN GATEWAY

03 September 2021

There is a new social networking group which is being formed by the Order of St John and might well be of interest to some of the younger OWs.

SJohn Gateway has been created to introduce those in the twenties to forties age group to the work of the Order, with a view to encouraging them actively to support the Order in its humanitarian work.  Its object is to provide an opening for people to have the chance to contribute something worthwhile to society as well as to meet and socialise with like-minded members.   Operating much along the same lines as a livery company, throughout the year members will be invited to a series of events and activities which will create opportunities for networking and socialising with like-minded people; being involved in the fascinating humanitarian organisation that is the Order of St John; and doing something valuable in the form of charitable and philanthropic work.

Therefore, have a look at the link below to the registration page on the website for the group’s launch event on Tuesday, 21st September 2021 at 6.30 pm.  This will be an evening reception and will be held at St John’s Gate in the historic Chapter Hall, a space of great importance to the world of SJohn. There will be opportunities to learn about the many aspects of St John’s work and there will be an address by our guest speaker, Her Majesty’s Lord- Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa, OBE, CStJ. The Order of St John numbers several OWs in its membership; indeed, the current Prior of England is an OW  –  Surgeon Rear Admiral Lionel Jarvis CBE, KStJ  (S. 1968-72).

It should be an interesting and fun evening, with the opportunity to meet many other like-minded people. (Please do also share this link with any friends and acquaintances who might be interested.)

Post-registration automatic updates concerning the evening’s arrangements will be sent out by e-mail should these become necessary.

Any OWs who might be interested are encouraged to register and to save the date in their diaries. It would be lovely to see them on the night.  Otherwise, for further information please see our website: www.stjohngateway.org.uk and follow us on social media.
