“I got to try everything, and the environment was always so supportive.”

Space Lutterodt-Clottey (M 23) was one of four former pupils of Cumberland School in Newham East London, who was awarded a Prince Albert Foundation Scholarship in 2021.

Graduating in 2023, with phenomenal A Level results in Maths, Computer Science and Economics, Space was awarded a fully funded, four-year unconditional scholarship to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia to read Computer Science and Mathematics, with a minor in Film.

I got to dip my toes into practically every field I could be interested in, from making films with professional cameras, starting a podcast, taking part in public speaking competitions, organizing a new student society on Rationality, fencing, applying to go to uni in the US, learning dance, doing costume for Legally Blonde The Musical and racing in Canada in a skiing competition. I am far from being a good skier, but the school was very encouraging, getting me private lessons when I signed up for the sport, I got to try everything, and the environment was always so supportive.
