A 2018
“So many OWs were very open about their life experiences, which made the Telefon even more gratifying.”
What is your favourite memory/OW story from the telephone campaign?

My favourite memory was talking to an OW about living in Berlin in the 1950s and discussing with him how the city had changed over the decades and how our experiences of the capital differed.

What did you enjoy most about being a caller in the campaign?

Discovering for myself how expansive the OW network is: I loved having the opportunity to speak to people from all walks of life across the globe, and hearing about where their Wellington education took them.

What did you personally learn whilst taking part in the campaign?

I learnt that OWs are incredibly generous- both with their time and financially. Whether it was answering questions about how to pursue a similar career to them, retelling memories of living abroad or indeed on the Wellington campus, so many OWs were very open about their life experiences, which made the Telefon even more gratifying.

Did being in the campaign reiterate/reflect why you wanted to be involved?

It definitely did, because by being part of the campaign I came to learn so much more about the Prince Albert Scholarship Programme, which strengthen my conviction that this was a positive campaign to participate in.
